Residents of Caracas, Venezuela, were left stunned on Tuesday evening after the sky turned a striking reddish-orange, creating a dramatic and mysterious scene across the city. Thick, low-hanging clouds reflected the intense colors, leaving many people in awe while videos and photos of the unusual event quickly spread across social media.
The breathtaking display came just days after the devastating earthquakes that struck parts of Venezuela, leading some people online to speculate that the phenomenon was linked to the recent seismic activity.
However, experts say the red sky was caused by a natural atmospheric phenomenon known as candilazo, which occurs when sunlight interacts with particles, moisture, and clouds in the atmosphere during sunset, producing vivid red and orange hues. Scientists have found no evidence connecting the colorful sky to the recent earthquakes.
While the glowing sky created an unforgettable spectacle, it also reflected the emotional mood of a nation still recovering from the recent disaster.
