A major diplomatic breakthrough was achieved as United States President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian formally signed a historic peace agreement aimed at ending months of conflict between their countries.
The agreement was signed electronically during a dinner hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron at the Palace of Versailles in France. President Trump officially endorsed the accord during the event, while President Pezeshkian signed the same agreement remotely, marking the beginning of a 60-day period during which both sides will work toward a broader and more comprehensive settlement.
Shortly after the signing ceremony, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on social media platform X that the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)” had been formally signed by both parties. He confirmed that the agreement had come into effect immediately following the electronic signatures.
According to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan played a key role as a mediator throughout the peace process, facilitating dialogue and helping both sides move toward an agreement. He described the signing as an important step toward regional stability and international peace.
The agreement is being viewed as a significant diplomatic achievement, with leaders expressing hope that the next 60 days will pave the way for a lasting resolution and improved relations between the United States and Iran after a period of heightened tensions and conflict.
