The federal government and its coalition partner, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), have agreed to recommend that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announce the Federal Budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 on June 10.

The decision was made during a pre-budget consultation meeting attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, and senior PPP leaders. Special attention was given to the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), which plays a major role in funding infrastructure and development projects across the country.

The meeting also reviewed broader economic goals for the upcoming fiscal year, including fiscal sustainability, public welfare initiatives, development projects, and measures aimed at promoting inclusive economic growth. The participants emphasized the importance of balancing economic stability with relief and development programs for the public.

Following detailed discussions, all participants unanimously agreed to recommend to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that the Federal Budget for fiscal year 2026-27 be presented on June 10, 2026. The final approval and formal announcement of the budget date will be made by the prime minister.
