Pakistan’s Army Chief Munir Arrives in Tehran to Advance US-Iran Ceasefire Efforts

Pakistan’s Army Chief, Asim Munir, arrived in Tehran on Wednesday as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to strengthen and extend the ceasefire between the United States and Iran.

His visit comes at a critical time, as both sides continue indirect negotiations to prevent further escalation in the region and work toward a long-term agreement.

According to reports, the visit is aimed at advancing discussions for a possible second round of US-Iran talks, following earlier negotiations that did not produce a final breakthrough.

Pakistan has been actively playing a mediating role, facilitating communication between Washington and Tehran and helping both sides move closer to a peaceful resolution.

Field Marshal Munir is leading a high-level delegation and is expected to hold key meetings with Iranian officials to convey messages and proposals related to the ceasefire. His engagement highlights Pakistan’s growing diplomatic involvement in the crisis, as it seeks to support dialogue and reduce tensions in the Middle East.

The current ceasefire, which was reached after intense international efforts, remains fragile, with several unresolved issues including regional conflicts and Iran’s nuclear programme. Officials believe that continued diplomatic engagement, including Pakistan’s mediation, could help create conditions for a more stable and lasting agreement between the two sides.
