PEMRA Issues Notice to 24 News Over Viral Fiza Ali Segment

The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued a notice to the CEO of 24 News following widespread online criticism of a segment from the morning show “Morning with Fiza.”

The notice concerns a viral clip in which host Fiza Ali’s husband lifted her up on set. PEMRA described the moment as “inappropriate” and “obnoxious” and specifically cited comments and gestures made by her husband during the broadcast on April 13, 2026.

According to the notice, the CEO of M/s City News Network (SMC-Pvt) Limited has been directed to appear for a personal hearing at PEMRA Headquarters on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. The regulator warned that legal action will be taken against the channel’s license under relevant PEMRA laws if the CEO fails to comply.

The order was issued with the approval of the PEMRA Chairperson under Section 29A of the PEMRA (Amendment) Act 2023.
