Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi on Wednesday assured PTI leaders that cases related to meetings with jailed party founder and former prime minister Imran Khan would be scheduled for hearing soon after Eidul Azha.
The assurance came during a meeting between the chief justice and PTI General Secretary Salman Akram Raja outside the Supreme Court building. Salman Akram Raja was leading a brief sit-in protest after attending a hearing at the Islamabad High Court in the £190 million corruption case involving Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi.
According to PTI leaders, the cases relate to requests for allowing Imran Khan access to his personal doctor, family members, and legal counsel while he remains imprisoned. The party has repeatedly raised concerns over restrictions on meetings and medical access for the former prime minister.
During the interaction, Yahya Afridi reportedly assured the PTI delegation that the matters would be taken up by the court soon after the Eid holidays. The development comes amid continuing legal and political tensions surrounding the PTI founder and the ongoing corruption case proceedings.
