Brazilian football star Neymar has announced his retirement from international football following Brazil’s heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to Norway in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16. The result brought an emotional end to one of the most memorable international careers in Brazilian football history.

The 34-year-old forward scored a stoppage-time penalty during the match, taking his international tally to 80 goals. However, the late goal was not enough to prevent Brazil from being knocked out of the tournament as Norway secured a place in the next round.

After the final whistle, Neymar was overcome with emotion. He fell to the ground in tears and covered his face with his shirt as teammates and supporters watched the emotional moment. Shortly afterward, he confirmed that the match was his final appearance for Brazil, saying, “I tried, I tried… now it’s over.”

Neymar retires as Brazil’s all-time leading goalscorer with 80 goals in 130 international appearances. Throughout his career, he won several major titles at club level and became one of the greatest players to represent Brazil. Although he never lifted the FIFA World Cup trophy, his talent, achievements, and unforgettable moments ensured his place among the country’s football legends.

His retirement marks the end of an era for Brazilian football, with fans around the world paying tribute to a player who inspired a generation and left a lasting legacy in the famous yellow jersey.
