PM Shehbaz Sharif Signals Major Petrol Price Cut as Global Oil Prices Decline

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has indicated that Pakistanis could soon receive significant relief in fuel prices, as the government prepares to announce a major reduction in petroleum rates following a decline in international oil prices.

Speaking during a session of the National Assembly in Islamabad, the prime minister said the government had fulfilled its promise to pass on the benefits of lower global oil prices to the public. He emphasized that the administration is committed to ensuring that any financial relief available is transferred directly to the people.

Shehbaz Sharif stated that after the government’s routine review of petroleum prices, a substantial decrease in fuel rates would be announced. He noted that the expected reduction comes after global crude oil prices eased in the wake of recent positive developments in international relations, including a reported peace agreement between the United States and Iran.

The prime minister reiterated that the government remains focused on reducing the burden of inflation on citizens and providing economic relief wherever possible. A reduction in petrol prices is expected to lower transportation costs and could also have a positive impact on the prices of various goods and services across the country.

The official announcement regarding the revised petroleum prices is expected following the completion of the government’s weekly review process, with consumers eagerly awaiting details of the anticipated reduction.
