The Muharram moon was not sighted anywhere in Pakistan, according to the official announcement by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. As a result, the Islamic New Year will begin on June 17, marking the start of Muharram 1448 AH.
With the moon not being visible, the month of Zilhaj will complete its full 30 days, and the first day of Muharram will be observed across the country on June 17. Muharram is one of the four sacred months in Islam and marks the beginning of the Islamic lunar calendar.
The month holds great religious significance for Muslims around the world, particularly the first ten days, which include Ashura. Religious gatherings, processions, and special arrangements are expected to take place across Pakistan to commemorate the occasion.
Authorities are also expected to implement security and administrative measures to ensure peaceful observance of Muharram events throughout the country.
