Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz visited the historic Old City of Baku during her official tour of Azerbaijan, where she explored the area’s rich cultural heritage and traditional attractions.
During the visit, she interacted with local residents and observed the preparation of traditional Azerbaijani bread baked inside a clay tandoor oven, a centuries-old cooking method that remains popular in the region.
The visit drew significant public attention after videos and pictures from the tour surfaced on social media. In the clips, Maryam Nawaz can be seen closely observing the traditional baking process while members of her delegation and local officials accompanied her through the narrow streets and historic landmarks of the old city.
The Old City of Baku, also known as Icherisheher, is considered one of Azerbaijan’s most famous tourist destinations and is recognized for its ancient architecture, cultural sites, and preserved historical identity. Maryam Nawaz’s visit highlighted the cultural connection and growing diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
Her Azerbaijan trip is part of broader efforts aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries in areas including tourism, trade, investment, and cultural exchange. The visit also reflected Pakistan’s interest in promoting closer regional ties and enhancing people-to-people connections through cultural diplomacy.
