A judicial magistrate on Saturday approved the bail of the son of a serving senior police officer, who had been arrested in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) after a heated exchange with police officials over the use of a police number plate on a private luxury vehicle.
According to police sources, the incident came to public attention after a video of the man, identified as the son of a Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), went viral on social media. The footage showed him arguing with police personnel during the confrontation in DHA.
Following the incident, Defence Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) on Friday on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Shazan Shakeel. The case was filed after the altercation between the suspect and the law enforcement officials.
Police further stated that the accused was taken into custody and later released on personal surety late Friday night. On Saturday, he was formally granted bail by a judicial magistrate, bringing the legal proceedings at this stage to a temporary pause.
