Indian actor Arshad Warsi has sparked discussion after sharing his opinion on Pakistani-style humour during a recent interview. Speaking candidly, the actor said he is not a fan of the style of comedy, claiming that he finds much of it derogatory and insulting. He added that he prefers humour that makes people laugh without belittling or mocking others.
Warsi also revealed that he does not enjoy sexually themed comedies, explaining that his personal preference is for clean and meaningful entertainment. His comments have attracted widespread attention on social media, with many users debating his views and sharing differing opinions.
During the same interview, acclaimed filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani also spoke about the topic of comedy and censorship. Hirani said he has often been the target of jokes about his own ethnicity but believes humour should not be excessively censored. According to him, placing too many restrictions on comedy could limit creativity and make it difficult for comedians to express themselves freely.
The interview has generated mixed reactions online. While some people agreed with Arshad Warsi’s criticism, others defended Pakistani comedy, pointing out that the country’s entertainment industry offers a wide variety of humour and should not be judged as a whole based on certain examples.
