The Pakistan Super League (PSL) technical committee has rejected Fakhar Zaman’s appeal and upheld his two-match suspension over a ball-tampering offence, the Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed on Thursday.
Fakhar was handed the ban earlier this week after being found guilty of ball tampering during Lahore Qalandars’ four-wicket defeat against Karachi Kings on Sunday. The 35-year-old batter challenged the decision, but the committee ruled against him.
In its official statement, the PCB said that under the PSL Code of Conduct, decisions made by the technical committee are final and binding on all parties.
As a result, Fakhar will miss Lahore Qalandars’ upcoming matches against Multan Sultans on Friday and Islamabad United on April 9.
The decision is a setback for Lahore Qalandars, who will now have to play two important matches without one of their key batters.
