Iraq secured the final spot at the upcoming FIFA World Cup after defeating Bolivia 2-1 in their inter-confederation playoff in Monterrey, marking their first appearance at the tournament in 40 years.
Ali Al Hamadi gave Iraq an early advantage with a goal in the 10th minute, but Bolivia responded before halftime as Moises Paniagua equalized. The decisive moment came in the second half when Aymen Hussein found the net, sealing a historic victory for his side.
With this win, Iraq becomes the 48th and last team to qualify for the World Cup, which will be held from June 11 to July 19 across Canada, Mexico, and the United States. They are set to compete in Group I alongside France, Norway, and Senegal.
