Imran Khan’s Sister Calls for Street Protests Amid Health Concerns

Aleema Khan, the sister of Imran Khan, has urged PTI supporters to come out on the streets and protest for the release of her brother and his wife, Bushra Bibi.

Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Aleema Khan expressed concern over Imran Khan’s health, saying he is facing medical issues, particularly related to his eye, and should be shifted to Shifa International Hospital for proper treatment. She claimed that authorities would only allow medical care or grant bail if public pressure increases through protests.

She emphasized that peaceful protest is a constitutional and internationally recognized right, adding that the party wants to build pressure on the government. Aleema also mentioned that PTI’s leadership has been hesitant to call for protests, fearing a weak public response. However, she suggested starting with a gathering of supporters outside Adiala Jail.

Aleema Khan further questioned official claims about Imran Khan’s health, saying the family does not trust them. She criticized the judiciary, stating that independent medical evaluation should have been conducted but was not, and alleged that courts are not acting freely.

She also expressed concerns that Imran Khan’s release may be delayed for a long time, claiming that legal proceedings, including bail requests, could be prolonged.

Meanwhile, Noreen Niazi took a stronger stance, saying she does not support peaceful protest. She referred to past demonstrations by Maryam Nawaz outside the National Accountability Bureau in Lahore, which turned violent, as an example.
