Heavy Rain Causes Road Closures and Traffic Disruptions in Karachi

Karachi: Heavy rainfall in Karachi has led to severe waterlogging on multiple roads, causing major traffic disruptions across the city, according to traffic police.

Authorities reported that main Sharea Faisal, from Nursery to Baloch Colony, has been closed due to accumulated rainwater. Traffic is being diverted through Allah Wali Chowrangi.

Slow-moving traffic has also been observed on Agha Khan Road between Tanker Chowrangi and Garden Chowk in both directions. Meanwhile, the stretch from the airport towards the city on Sharea Faisal is facing congestion due to water accumulation.

In other affected areas, the road from Boat Basin to Submarine Underpass has been partially closed for light traffic. Similarly, traffic on Jinnah Avenue from Tank Chowk to Malir Halt is moving slowly due to potholes and standing water.

Traffic police officials are present at key نقاط to manage the situation and ensure smoother flow of vehicles.

Alternative Routes for Commuters

Authorities have advised citizens to use alternate routes to avoid delays:

* Commuters traveling from FTC to the airport via Sindhi Muslim or Shahrah-i-Quaid-i-Azam should take the route through Allah Wali Chowrangi, Tariq Road, Ittihad Signal, and Char Minar Chowrangi towards Aga Khan Hospital.

* Those heading from Baloch Colony to Karsaz are advised to use Stadium Road, Dalmia, Millennium, Johar Mor, Johar Chowrangi, and Phelwan Goth towards ASF Headquarters.

* Travelers from Drigh Road to FTC can use Karsaz, Stadium Road, and the Bahadurabad–Char Minar route.

Additional diversions include:

* Char Minar Chowrangi via National Stadium Road or Korangi Road for those coming from Jail Flyover

* Johar Mor and Stadium Road for commuters from NIPA Chowrangi

* Akhtar Colony routes for traffic from Star Gate or Korangi Road

Meanwhile, commuters going from Meteorology to Malir can use the Samama, Johar Chowrangi, Habib University, and ASF Headquarters route.

Public Advisory

Motorists are strongly advised to follow traffic police instructions, use alternative routes where possible, and drive carefully due to slippery and waterlogged roads.
