Chief Ministers from all four provinces of Pakistan gathered at the Supreme Court of Pakistan in Islamabad to attend the National Conference on Prison Reforms, where senior government officials and key stakeholders discussed ways to improve the country’s correctional system.
The conference was attended by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. The event brought together provincial leadership and experts to explore reforms aimed at modernizing prisons and improving rehabilitation programs for inmates.
Participants exchanged views on strengthening prison management, enhancing inmates’ living conditions, and introducing effective rehabilitation and reintegration initiatives. The discussions also focused on ensuring that Pakistan’s correctional facilities align with modern legal and human rights standards while improving the overall justice system.
The conference highlighted the importance of cooperation between the federal and provincial governments in implementing meaningful prison reforms. Officials emphasized the need for long-term policy measures to create a more efficient, humane, and rehabilitation-focused correctional system across the country.
